Testimonials OHIO 10

Let me start off by saying how timely this book is. OH 10 deals with "real world and "real life" issues. A.V. Smith touches on topics and themes that many authors won't touch or refuse too. For instance, there are chapters that deal with police brutality, discrimination, trust, family and LGBTQ + issues, just to name a few. The themes and topics are on the lines of some drama shows like NCIS, Law & Order and Cops. What a thought provoking and profound novel that I can't sum it up in four words: It's a must read!

I LOVE OHIO 10! The story surrounds a modern day team of both seasoned and young police detectives, doing their best to keep a lid on crime in and around their city. I particularly enjoyed the camaraderie with this team of detectives. Each with distinct personalities and backstories, that lets the reader in on the life they lead during, and away from the job. Just fallible human beings like the rest of us. Detective Vania (the only female on the team) is capable, cool, and easygoing, but as a female cop, has to prove her worth to the boys. Just facts. Travis and Vania have to learn to trust each other to seal their bond as colleagues. Their lives depend on it. Cole and Everett have the kind of friendship that can only develop over time and unique, shared experiences. They understand each other and look out for one another. The cases they investigate are compelling and interesting. The author has a keen sense of the fabric he weaves with his stories. He leaves a few breadcrumbs for the reader to follow, and unexpected twists along the way. OHIO 10 is a book you will not want to put down. The subject matter is relevant, cases compelling, and touches on the type of bad vs. good policing going on in our society today, and political turmoil that muddies up the issues for the cops and the citizens they have sworn to protect.
